This morning, I woke up feeling... off.
Tired in my body.
Heavy in my heart.
The kind of tired that sleep doesn’t fix.
If I’m honest, I’ve been feeling this way more often than I’d like to admit lately—worn out, a little lost, and quietly overwhelmed. It’s not always obvious on the outside, but I feel it underneath the surface. Like something sacred in me is asking for attention. Like I’ve been holding too much for too long.
So, as I often do when I don’t know where else to begin, I turned to my tarot deck. Just one card. One message. And what it told me was simple, but hard to swallow:
I wasn’t taking care of myself.
Not really.
Not the way I know how to. Not the way I need to.
I’d been letting the shadow take the lead—something that happens when we’re grieving, anxious, or simply disconnected from ourselves. When life feels like too much, even the sun can feel like too much. Too bright. Too hot. Too… hopeful.
But then, something shifted.
I put on a podcast by Michael Singer, and in the middle of my fog, I heard this:
“You should wake up in the morning and say to yourself: I hope you have fun today.”
It caught me off guard.
Not “be productive today.”
Not “get your life together today.”
Just… have fun.
Be light. Be human. Be alive.
And in that small moment, I felt something soften. A flicker. A choice.
So today, I chose to step into the sun.
Not because everything is perfect.
Not because I feel 100% better.
But because I want to.
Because I told myself: I want to be happy.
And that’s the thing, isn’t it?
Happiness—this big, beautiful, elusive thing we all chase—it's not some distant mountaintop we climb to one day. It's a choice we make. A perspective we shift. A practice we come back to, over and over again.
And today, I’m coming back to it. Gently. Imperfectly. But with intention.
So here’s what I’m committing to:
- More kindness—to myself and to others
- More presence, even in the mess
- More gratitude for the tiny, beautiful things
- More trust in my healing, even when it’s slow
- More joy in simple pleasures
- Less pressure, less drama, and more softness
Because life isn’t just about the breakthroughs and the big moments—it’s about how we show up on ordinary mornings when we feel like hiding. It’s about choosing light even when the shadows linger. It’s about learning to stand in the sun again, even if you’re still a little afraid of getting burned.
Choosing happiness isn’t easy. It’s vulnerable. It’s brave. It’s spiritual work.
But it’s worth it.
So if you’re in a moment like mine—tired, unsure, a little heavy—maybe this is your invitation, too.
To speak kindly to yourself.
To reach for one joyful thing.
To say, I hope you have fun today, and mean it.
And maybe, just maybe, you’ll feel the sun on your skin and remember that warmth lives inside you, too.
