Saying Yes To The Summer Within

Summer Solstice is near and I don’t know if it’s simply the season changing… or if something inside me is shifting too.
Because we carry seasons within us, and sometimes, when we attune to nature’s rhythm, we feel our own internal seasons stir in response.

Maybe my inner summer is awakening.
Maybe this light outside is reflecting something I’ve been quietly longing for: more vibrant colors, more warmth, more joy.

Lately, I’ve been feeling a deep desire to explore.
To be more curious. To bring more fun into my days and into my work.
Not the kind of fun that distracts you, but the kind that awakens you.
That brings you back into your body with laughter, play, and presence.

Because fun is not frivolous, it’s healing.
And joy is not selfish, it’s sacred. Especially when it includes the joy of others.

I feel the pull to move with more lightness.
To stop carrying the weight of always needing to do more, be more, prove more.
To follow what feels joyful and expansive.
To create, teach, and live from a place rooted in pleasure, not pressure.
To trust that when I lead from joy, I offer others permission to do the same.

Sometimes, we work so hard at things that don’t truly make us happy.
We pour ourselves into goals that don’t light us up—or into relationships that ask too much and give too little.
It can feel like we’re trying so hard to “do life right,” that we forget to simply enjoy being alive.
We forget to ask: what actually makes me happy?
We forget that loving ourselves is where we begin.
Because when we truly love ourselves, we’ll do anything it takes to restore our health, our joy, and our peace.

Joy is a light within us, but sometimes we forget to turn it on.
Happiness isn’t just something we stumble into—it’s something we choose and something we create.
It’s a vibration we align with by making small choices every day:
Choosing rest when we need it.
Choosing people who nourish us and lift us up.
Choosing work that feels like an extension of our purpose.
Choosing to let go of what dims us.
We’re always told, “I’ll be happy when…”
But what if we allowed ourselves to be happy now—even in the in-between, even in the not-yet?
What if happiness isn’t a destination, but a path?

Lately, even the way I approach my yoga practice and teaching is shifting. I'm letting myself play with the wobble,
be more curious about new shapes and flow, and explore movement as a form of celebration—not correction.
As we flow, I invite my students to try things differently, to fall, to laugh, to shine.
To let go of the need to be perfect and instead discover what it feels like to move from joy, not judgment.
Because play is presence. And presence is a kind of freedom.

In the book The Energy Codes by Dr. Sue Morter, there’s a passage I’ve returned to often:

"Imagine "Yes!". Just that single word, as if the whole Universe is saying "Yes!" to you.
As if there is nothing but a big "Yes!" going on.
It will be as if you are in the biggest state of acceptance and fulfillment possible."

As we approach the Summer Solstice, the longest and brightest day of the year,
I’m letting that light mirror something inside me.
I’m choosing to sit in my best yes, in a hugely expanded state,
where I invite in light, creativity, and joyful energy.
